50th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Allison Wilson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in a very quiet but enjoyable way last Friday, January 7. A constant down pour of congratulations, cards and letters came in every mail for several days. Their daughter, Mrs. Conie McGeary spent the day with them and bought beautiful roses for the dining room and carnations for the parlor. In gold letters was also arranged the date 1866-1916. Among the gifts were a gold jewel case, a gold thimble, gold headed cane, and a beautiful gold lined sugar and creamer. Several of their most intimate friends called during the day and it was a very happy one for them with the exception of it being the first day of Mr. Wilson's illness.

(Shirley Simmons has in her possession the gold thimble; John Wilson has the gold headed cane, there is no record as to where the other items are.)

(Bureau County Republican, Princeton, Illinois, January 1916, submitted by Shirley Simmons)
