Willard N. Bard, 94, Dies, Funeral Rites Will Be Held Saturday

New Bedford: - Willard N. Bard, 94, died in his sleep early this morning in the home of his daughter Mrs. Teressa Lathrop in New Bedford, following a short illness.

The body was removed to the Johnson Funeral Home in Manlius, where friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the New Bedford Christian Church. Burial will in the Greenville-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Bard was born March 1, 1867 in a log cabin in Greenville Township, the son of D. N. and Thrissa Wolf Bard. He was married to Cora Dietz in Princeton on Sept. 4, 1894.She preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1957.

He was a member of the New Bedford Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon and treasurer. He had been given the deacon emeritus award by the church. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America of New Bedford.

Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. Lathrop, of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Mrs. Harold Bowen, Lake Tomahawk, Wis., and Warren Lathrop, Annawan; five great grandchildren, Jo Ellen, Sharon and Michael Bowen, and Kim and Jeffrey Lathrop; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Harry Bard and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Renner.
