Poway, California --Lee Beams, 68, of Poway, Calif., formally of the Dover
and Princeton area, died at 5:13 am. Saturday March 23, 1996 at the Pamerado
Hospital in Poway.
Born June 25, 1928 in Van Orin to Herman Mark
Esterday and Margaret (Bryant) Esterday Beams, he married Edith Morein July
20, 1974, in Fallbrook, Calif. She survives.
He graduated from Malden High School in 1945 and
was very active in athletics. He attended Bradley University in Peoria after
which he joined the navy and served four years. He had been employed at the
Poway Post Office from 1958 until his retirement three and a half years ago.
Also surviving are three daughters, Ellen Smith,
Janet Headley and Marci Schwartz, all of the Poway area; two sons, Michael
Beams and Chris Beams, both of Poway area; two sisters, Beverly Piper of
Princeton and Sharon Libby of Colorado; one brother, Kent Beams of
Princeton; his stepfather, Stanton Beams; 13 grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his
Cremation rites were accorded and his ashes were
given to the Navy to be buried at sea.
Memorials may be directed to the National
Leukemia Society in lieu of flowers.
