Sheffield - Harold D. Catton, 71, of Sheffield died
Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Feb., 27, 1929, in West Jersey to Cecil and Mildred
Dunn Catton, he married Betty VanDeHandy on Sept. 16, 1950, in Orange,
Texas. She survives, Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah (and
William) Younggren of Sheffield and Donna (and Michael) Judge of Albia,
Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Carma
Robinson of Mendota and Charlene Catton of Wyanet; and six brothers, Donald
of Bureau, Darrell (and Ruth) of Ottawa, Frederick of Missouri,
Kenneth (and Linda) and Robert (and Linda) of Wyanet and William (and
Bonnie) of Galva.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
He was a Korean War Navy veteran.
He owned and operated a service station in Sheffield and
then operated a service station in Manlius. He last worked at U.S. Ecology
in Sheffield until retiring in 1983 because of ill health.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheffield. The Rev. Jeff Windy will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services,
Sheffield Chapel. A parish rosary will be at 6:30 tonight at the church.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by
Mineral-Clark-Carrington American Legion Post 1031.
