OBITUARY

 

MELVIN DURHAM

Walnut: The Funeral for Melvin N. Durham, 76, was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Walnut with Dr. Eugene Spradling of the First Christian Church officiating. Organist was Mrs. John Foss. Pallbearers were Robert A. Durham, John Durham, William Morgan, Charles Jenner and Lonny Jones. Interment was in the Walnut Cemetery.

Mr. Durham was born Nov. 15, 1899 in Maytown, Lee County, the son of Charles and Ida Weeks Durham. He was married to Blanche Fordham of Walnut on Dec. 23, 1919 at the Christian parsonage in Walnut. He had farmed in the Walnut area, retiring in 1959.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Bob and Tom of Walnut; three granddaughters and three grandsons; three great grandsons; three great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.
