LeeRoy Eckberg

LeeRoy E. Eckberg, Wyanet, died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday morning at the Shabbona Silica Sand Company site, near Ottawa. He was 61.

Visitation for Mr. Eckberg will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Norberg Memorial Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Norberg's.
Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Eckberg, born March 11, 1916, in New Bedford, was the son of Olaf and Ida Eckberg. He married Doris Wilson.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Eckberg was a member of the Wyanet VFW post and union local 649 of Peoria.

He was employed as a crane operator.

Mr. Eckberg is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Patricia) Jovanovic, Sandwich, and Mrs. Brian (Sandra) Weatherwax, Dixon; four grandchildren; seven brothers, Kenneth, Lester, both of Wyanet, Orville, San Antonio, Texas, Everett, Princeton, and Harold, Arthur, and Edmund, all of Walnut; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Richmond and Alma Bodelson, both of Wyanet.

His parents and one brother, Lawrence, preceded Mr. Eckberg in death.

Memorials may be directed to the Wyanet rescue unit or to the Wyanet Mothers of World War II.
