Walnut: - Mrs. Barbara J. Gerbitz, 43, 214 Liberty St., Walnut, was pronounced dead on arrival at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton Tuesday afternoon following a long illness. Funeral services will be public graveside services at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Walnut Cemetery with Rev. William Harbert, pastor of St. John's Catholic Church of Walnut, officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Allen-Garland Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Walnut Rescue Unit.

Born on March 22, 1939 in Sheffield, the daughter of Chester and Emily Negella Gentry, she was united in marriage to George (Buck) Gerbitz on Oct. 4, 1958 in Sheffield. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, George; two sons, Robert and Todd, both at home; her father, Chester Gentry, Rock Island; her mother, Emily Estes, Princeton; four brothers and one sister.
