HAZEL W. (Whisler) GIFFROW
HAZEL W. (Whisler) GIFFROW - 85, of
Princeton, formerly of Rock Falls, died Nov. 1, 1992, at Perry Memorial
Hospital, Princeton, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be
1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karen
Schilling, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Blair Funeral home, Sterling.
Mrs. Giffrow was born Nov. 3, 1906, in Jordan
Township, the daughter of Melton B. and Mary (Cross) Whisler. She married
Harold Giffrow, Feb. 9, 1926. She attended Brown's Business College in
Sterling. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past
president and life member of the United Methodist Women, formerly W.S.C.S.,
a Sunday School teacher, member of Sterling and Rock Falls Women's Clubs,
Hume Township, Homemakers, Illinois Arabian Horse Association, and Sauk
Valley Horseman's Association. She and her husband and daughter ran the Lark
Lee Arabian Horse Farm, south of Rock Falls.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles
D. (Judith) Putts and Shirley Giffrow, both of Princeton; one son, Robert D.
Giffrow of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four great
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her husband and one
sister, Bertha Gilbert.
