OBITUARY
ISABELLE Oakford (James) HEATON - Funeral
services for Mrs. C. R. Heaton, 92, pioneer resident of Princeton, were held
Monday afternoon in Princeton, with the Rev. Francis Cooper, First Baptist
pastor, officiating. Committal was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Heaton passed away Saturday morning at the
home of her son, Robert Heaton, three miles north of Princeton, where she
had lived since the death of her husband in 1923. Mrs. Heaton was born
Isabelle Oakford James, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evan S. James, in
Pennsylvania, July 7, 1851. She came to Illinois with her parents in 1855
and they settled near Sheffield. The trip overland was made in a prairie
schooner. Her marriage to C. R. Heaton was solemnized Aug. 29, 1869. Eight
children, seven of whom survive, were born to this union. One son, Harry,
died in 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Heaton observed their golden wedding anniversary
in 1919. Surviving are four sons, Robert of Princeton, Hensel and Frank,
both of Walnut, and Elmer of S. Dakota; three daughters, Carrie Heaton of
Walnut and Mrs. Gaylord Edwards of Winterset, Iowa, and Mrs. Iva Ewalt of
Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Valentine who lives in California.
