Wayne W. Johnson Dies In Nursing Home

Tampico: - Wayne Watson Johnson, 73, of Tampico, passed away this morning at the Prophets Riverview Center after being ill for some time.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Schmidt Chapel, the Rev. Richard Sprague of Prophetstown Church of Christ and the Rev. Emil Ross Blobaum of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Yorktown, officiating, with burial in the Yorktown Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. on Saturday. A memorial has been established for the Yorktown Church of Christ.

Wayne Johnson was born Sept. 19, 1894 in Bureau County, the son of Christian D. and Achsa Johnson. He was educated in the elementary schools in Bureau County and attended Browns Business College. He married Eva Delle Brooks on Dec. 15, 1915 in Princeton, and lived in Tampico vicinity all his life. He was a member of the Yorktown Church of Christ, Farm Bureau, trustee for Fairfield Greenville Cemetery.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elbert Lathe of Sterling, four grandsons, two granddaughters, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, one son Merle in 1953, his wife in 1964, three brothers and one sister in infancy, three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Potter, Mrs. Lulu Pierson and Mrs. Edith Swanson; two brothers, Frank J. and Stacy H.
