Darline E. Kavican, 91, died Thursday, February
3, 2005 at 6:38 PM in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Howard and
She was born September 30, 1913 in Ohio
Township, Illinois to Herbert and Maud Wedding Wilson. She married Louis J.
Kavican on July 14, 1951 in Seattle, Washington, he died January 30, 1979.
Darline came to Washington in 1945 with her then
husband, Edward Beams, they divorced in 1947. She never forgot her Illinois
roots, corresponding with her many friends for over 50 years.
She has a passion for gardening and was
extremely proud of her beautiful yard and flowers. She painted ceramics for
over 40 years her family and friends are honored to have "Ceramics by
Darline" in their homes. Her grandchildren called her "Grandma Goody Bug"
because of the wonderful creations that magically appeared from her kitchen.
Her storytelling and sense of humor are legend, ask anyone who has ever been
on the receiving end of one of her jokes.
Preceded in death by her parents; three brother,
Herbert (Andy) Wilson, Charles (Bub) Wilson and Harold Wilson; four sisters,
Iva Arndt, Margaret Bowars, Doris Eckberg and Elaine Rollings; one great
grandson, Philip Simmons; and one great-great-grandson, James Corfe.
Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn K.

Steven (Sherie) Simmons, Kent, WA, Pamela (Keith) Gregory, Seattle, WA, Mark
(Mary) Philp, Salem, OR, Kathy (Jay) Baudo, Denver, CO; 14
great-grandchildren, Shawn Stockwell, Troy Stockwell, Tamina Stockwell,
Alisha (Ryan, Mack, Justin (Amy) Corfe, Cody Corfe, Jayson Simmons, Jessica
Simmons, Joshua Simmons, Drew McCarthy, Danielle McCarthy, K. J. Gregory,
Alex Gregory, Malea Baudo; 10 great-great-grandchildren, Tabitha Stockwell,
Isaac Stockwell, Cassandra Stockwell, Kayla Stockwell, Corey Stockwell,
Jonathan Corfe, Dalton Corfe, Christopher Corfe, Bailey Corfe, Andrew
Simmons; two sisters, Orpha Murphy, Princeton, Illinois and Bernice Nyberg,
Peoria, Illinois; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darline has touched the hearts and lives of all
who knew her. She will be remembered in our hearts and loved forever.
Gathering at 12:00 PM at Marlatt Funeral Home in
Kent. Graveside service will be at 1 PM, Monday, February 7, 2005. The
Reverend Pat Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park,
Kent, Washington. Arrangements made by Marlatt Funeral Home, Kent,
Memorials may be Hillcrest to the American
Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
