Mrs. Mercer, Tiskilwa, Dies
Mrs. John (Mary) Mercer, 82,
of Tiskilwa, died Monday at Walnut Manor Nursing home. Services will be
at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hughes funeral home, Tiskilwa, and burial
will be in Mt. Bloom cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at
the funeral home.
Mrs. Mercer was born
Dec. 12, 1891, in Dover, a daughter of Oscar and Alice
Storms Burrell. She was first married to
Lud Sterling in 1901, and he died in 1923. She next married John Mercer
in 1924, and he died in 1965. Also preceding her in death were her
parents, two sons, one daughter, two grandchildren, one sister and four
brothers.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Charles
(Margaret) Odell of Arkansas, Mrs. Ned (Mildred)
Crossett, Princeton, Mrs. Glenn (Virginia) Durham, Walnut, Mrs.
Lyle (Mable) Braasch, Wyanet; 20
grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren.
The deceased was a member of the Tiskilwa
Methodist church.
