Walnut: - Robert E. Nolan, 72, of 170 Baseline Road, Walnut, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks, pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be at

Walnut Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Walnut American Legion Post 179. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Nolan was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Coventon, Tenn., the son of Walter and Annie (Dixon) Nolan. He married Dorothy Billing on Jan. 25, 1945, in Hernando, Miss. She died July 4, 1997. He served in the Army during World War II. He and his wife operated the Spotlight Grocery in Yeordville for many years. He retired from Illinois Forge, Rock Falls.

Survivors include a son, Fred (Charlin) Nolan of Sterling; three daughters, Brenda (Barry) Cochran, Cheryl (Gary) Harris and Barb Thompson, all of Rock Falls; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
