Kewanee- Irvan "Ras" Olsen, 97, of Kewanee, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Kewanee Hospital.

Graveside services and interment will be held at !:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4 at Floral Hill Cemetery in Neponset. Virginia Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Kewanee Senior Citizens Center.

He was born June 6, 1914 in Sheffield, the son of Rasmus and Hancenia (Christiansen) Olsen. He married Helen E. Scott on February 8, 1940 in Princeton. She survives as do several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He served his country in the Army during WW11 in the 1906 Aviation Engineers serving in the pacific. He worked as a mechanic and was owner and operator of Olsen's Garage in Sheffield for many years. He was a member of the Federation of the Blind, the American Legion and the Kewanee Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed wood working and fishing.
