Mrs. Amanda Pierson Succumbs Wednesday

Prophetstown: - Mrs. Amanda Pierson, 86, of Prophetstown, passed away Wednesday evening at the Eveningside Nursing Home where she had been a patient five months.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Gardner Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Lawrence S. Anderson officiating, with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday afternoon and evening. A memorial has been established for the First Lutheran Church.

Amanda Justine Pierson was born June 6, 1881, in Bureau County, the daughter of Nels and Mary Gibson. She was educated in the Center School. She married Peter Pierson of Prophetstown, Dec. 10, 1902, in Portland, and they lived in the Prophetstown community since. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three brothers, Anton Gibson, Prophetstown, Glenn Gibson of Tremont, Arthur Gibson of Lyndon; one sister, Mrs. Josie Ackeberg.

She was preceded by her husband in 1955, two brothers and three sisters.
