OBITUARY

 

Louis/Lewis Smith

Louis Smith, of Zearing, who was on his way home from the funeral of his brother-in-law, Allison Wilson, Wednesday evening, was found by Harry Corey near his place and taken to the home of another brother-in-law, Evan Wilson where he died before midnight. Mr. Smith was upwards of his allotted three score and ten. Mrs. William Geisweller, a nurse from Lafayette, Indiana, attended the funeral of her uncle, Allison Wilson where she was remaining overnight with her aunt when she was notified of the serious condition of her father, Louis Smith, and arrived on the scene in time to administer to her dying father the last few moments of his life.

Lewis Smith was born in Berlin Township, Illinois, November 29, 1847, and passed away December 01, 1919, being 72 years, 11 days of age. He was married to Mary Wilson of Dover Township, Illinois, October 14, 1875. To this union were born two daughters, Carrie E. Geisweller, of Indiana, and Lena Lockhart of Colorado. The deceased had spent his entire life in Bureau County with the exception of two years. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow, two daughters, one sister and a number of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and other friends.
