Oscar Frederick Swan Dies, Funeral Rites Will be Held Sunday

Manlius: - Oscar Frederick Swan, 83, former New Bedford business man died in the Prairie View Nursing home in Princeton Thursday evening.

The body was brought to the Howard Johnson Funeral Home in Manlius where friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the New Bedford Christian Church, the Rev. Robert Low, pastor of the church officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. F. Gwynne Cook, pastor of the Henry Christian Church, former New Bedford pastor. Burial will be in the Greenville-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Swan was born Dec. 21, 1872 in New Bedford the son of Peter and Anna Johnson Swan. He was married to Hattie N. Winkler on Feb. 22, 1897 in New Bedford. He sold insurance for the American insurance Company for 53 years and also owned and operated a billiard parlor in New Bedford for a number of years.

Survivors are one daughter Mrs. Seriel (Ethel) Serie, Sheffield; three sons, Earl E., Princeton; Kenneth, Clinton, Ia.,; Glenn, Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. A. T. Peterson, Malta.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Edna Sousser and Mrs. Gladys Beachler, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
