DORLA THOME

Dorla Thome Rites Held

Mrs. Lloyd (Dorla) Thome, 78, 809 Avenue A., Rock Falls, died Saturday morning at the Sterling Care Center. Funeral services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Wheelock-Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell D. Allen, pastor of the Rock Falls United Methodist church, and the Rev. Ernest C. Carder, associate pastor of the Rock Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Ohio, Ill. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Rock Falls United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Thome was born July 25, 1896, in Ohio, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Haines. She came to Rock Falls in 1912 and finished her education at Sterling High School. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Thome on Aug. 9, 1915. They lived on a farm in Montmorency for 22 years, then moved to Rock Falls in 1940. Lloyd Thome preceded her in death on March 10, 1976. She was very active in club work, and was past president and member of the Rock Falls Womens Club, a member of the F.V.W. auxiliary, Post No. 326, and was County President and Chairwoman of Whiteside County Republican Women. She also organized the Friendly Serving Circle which existed for over 40 years as a charitable organization. She was a member of the Rock Falls United Methodist Church and the Miriam Circle of Rock Falls.

She is survived by two sons, Orville L. of Rock Falls and Gilbert P. of Sterling; one daughter, Mrs. Fred J. (Mary Virginia) Pyse of Sayers Acres, Rock Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, her parents, and one great granddaughter, Barbara.

April 21 - Funeral: Pallbearers: Greg Thome, Bob Thome, Tom Baker, Brad Pyse, Roger Lee Jacobs, Ned McGinn. Honorary pallbearers: Keith Albright, Dan Sisson, Park Book and Fritz Brandt. The VFW Auxiliary held a memorial service on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. with Wilma Wierseman, president and officer presiding.
