SYLVIA R. "Ma" THOMPSON - 58, of 217 Walnut Grove Drive, Walnut, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at CGH Medical Center. She was a school bus driver for Walnut Grade School and special education students and also was employed by Walnut Manor Nursing home as a certified nurses aide for a number of years.

Mrs. Thompson was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Princeton, the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Vetter) Gustafson. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Thompson of Walnut; a son, Kenyon Thompson of Walnut; her mother of Walnut; a sister, Elaine Forward of Sterling; a brother, Kurt Gustafson of Walnut; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Neil Gustafson.

The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Ron Eckberg, pastor of Walnut Bible Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial is at a later date at Walnut Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
