Donald Vickrey

PRINCETON -- Donald L. Vickrey, 88, a resident of Colonial Hall Living Center in Princeton, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at the center.

He was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Dover Township, Bureau County, to John and Elizabeth (Morel) Vickrey.

He was employed by Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed of Princeton for many years, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include five children, Marlene (Michael) Hult of St. Cloud, Fla., Gordon (Sandy) Vickrey of Kewanee, Christy (Greg) Gonda of Champaign, Donna (Lee Thomas) Vickrey of Springfield and Kevin Vickrey of Draper, Utah; one brother, Jack (Marjorie) Vickrey of Peoria; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean, on Sept. 14, 2001; and one sister, Beverly Gutshall.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today, Saturday, in the Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton, with the Rev. James Galbreath officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.
