Walnut: - Harold Eugene Wallis, 26, passed away at his home in Walnut at 1 p.m. Friday after a critical illness of six weeks. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Walnut at 9:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev. T. C. Wujek, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ross Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Harold E. Wallis was born in Walnut, June 9, 1926, the son of Harold J. and Lucy Power Wallis. He was a member of the 1944 graduating class of Walnut Community High School and after graduation entered the U.S. Army Air Force for one year of service. He attended the University of Wisconsin for a dairying course and was employed as foreman at the Walnut Cheese Co., where he had worked since high school days with the exception of one year spent in Peoria. On May 15, 1948, he was married to Helen Conner of Peoria. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Walnut Post 179 of the American Legion and Bureau County Voiture 686 Forty and Eight.

Surviving are his wife, parents, and one sister, Mrs. H. P. (Margaret) Hensel of Princeton.
