OBITUARY
Margarete Yonk
WALNUT -- Margarete Frances Yonk, 88, of 122
Wyanet Road, Walnut, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at the Walnut Manor
Nursing Home in Walnut.
Born Nov. 11, 1916, in Edinburg to Floyd and
Hazel Fern (Hart) Brown, she married Keith I. Yonk Feb. 28, 1943, in Walnut.
He died June 3, 2000.
She graduated as valedictorian of her high
school graduating class. She also graduated with high honors from Illinois
State University with a degree in education and was a member of the Bryant
Club. She was a teacher of mathematics and Latin at Walnut High School for
28 years and one year at LaMoille High School.
She also was a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary and Walnut Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Alan (Dianne) Yonk of
Idaho Falls, Idaho; two grandsons, Jonathan Yonk of Madrid, Spain, and
Justin of Richmond, Wash.; and three nephews and one niece.
She also was preceded in death by her parents
and one sister, Ludora Sharp.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the
Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Paul Nolden, pastor of the
Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut
Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the services
in the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Walnut United
Methodist Church, Walnut Fire Department or Walnut Manor Nursing Home.
