Miss Hazel Legg is visiting relatives in Chicago.
Cy Hilton is in Chicago this week with a car of horses.
Billy Campbell, of Galesburg, was an over Sunday visitor here.
Lou Brown went to Chicago Monday to see his daughter, Miss Lena.
Henry and C. H. Murphy are building a big barn for Chris Kane at Blyton.
Miss Joe Herring, of Civer, is spending the week here with Cuba friends.
Mrs. J. R. Monfried and Miss Fannie Jacobson are spending the week in Peoria.
Miss Gussie Shryock spent last week with Mrs. Harry O'Brien, near St. David.
Miss Mary Banister, of Canton, was a Cuba visitor the latter part of last week.
John Vliet(sp?), who has been seriously ill for several weeks past, is much better.
Miss Vera Peck came down from Galesburg Monday to visit with friends.
Mrs. Sarah Selver and daughter, of Wichita, Kansas, is visiting relatives here.
Miss Vera Heller, of Galesburg, is visiting the family of her uncle, M. T. Mowery.
Mrs. Minnie Lair, of Canton, is visiting with the family of Omar Moorehouse this week.
Bruce McDermot was in town from Bernadotte Saturday shaking hands with old friends.
Harry Nebergall went to Prairie City Tuesday morning, and from there to the Bushnell fair.
Miss Alice Hedrick has returned from Chicago after several weeks' visit with home folks here.
Elza Wasson and Curtis Baylor are home from St. Louis, Flat River and other points in Missouri.
Miss Nettie Nicholson came down from Peoria Saturday to remain a few days with relatives.
Mrs. James Stirrat and daughter, Miss Alice, are here from West Virginia on a visit with friends.
Mrs. Graf Moss and children, of Canton, are spending the week with Mrs. Moss, father of A. T. Murphy.
Dr. J. C. Snively was here from Peoria over Sunday. He was accompanied home by Master Hugh Grigsby.
J. R. Monfried is in Chicago this week buying a big stock of spring clothing for the Boss Clothing house.
Mrs. Allen Long and daughter, Miss Vllina(sp?) are visiting with the family of Will H. Mosher, near Hermon.
J. H. Swearingen, J. G. Moss, L. N. Lyons and G. H. Todd are attending the grand army encampment at Chicago this week.
Mrs. Jas. Mason has been seriously sick, but is beginning to improve.
Miss Bell Smith leaves Saturday for Armington, where she has an excellent position in the city schools for the coming year.
S. J. Young went to Gilchrist last Friday to install F. M. Guthrie into the office of Vice-president of this sub-district U. M. W. A.
Miss Della Conant is home from the Bushnell Normal where she has been taking a thorough course in bookkeeping, type writing, etc.
Tom Asquith, wife and children came in from Clark City Monday evening for a visit with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Asquith.
Miss Kate Kasson, of St. Louis, who has been visiting the family of her uncle, Martin Manion, for a month past returned home Monday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Riley, Mrs. James Shryock and daughter, Miss Dessie and Mrs. E. M. Landes are among the Chicago visitors this week.
Mrs. Jerome Brown returned home from near Yates City Sunday where she had been called by the serious illness of Mrs. Hattie (Brown) Roberts.
H. O'Brien, wife and family, Wm. Shryock, wife and family, of St. David, and H. C. Wasson, of Canton, were the guests of G. T. Baylor and wife Saturday.
Chris Watkins and Messrs. Morris and Phillips, of London Mills, are here repairing Beam & Hilton's barn and building a cottage on the lot purchased by that firm from the J. K. Welch estate.
J. W. Abbott, of Cambridge, Kan. who has been visiting relatives in this county, in company with his brother, Jerry Abbott, of Joshua, called at this office Tuesday afternoon, on the eve of leaving his home.
Rev. J. P. Kester, left for Chicago last Tuesday to attend the National encampment of the G. A. R. and also to do some visiting among friends and relatives. He expects to return the fore part of next week.
Rev. E. R. Horton, B. F. Bolon, Mrs. D. M. Jenkins, J. M. Sherwood and J. E. Sherwood are among those from here who are attending the Sunday school convention at London Mills this week.
Public Sale -- Jonathna Harn will sell at public sale on the Sarah Palmer farm, 3 miles east of Cuba, on Wednesday, September 5, the following: nineteen head of horses, 5 head of cattle, 35 head of hogs, a Berkshire boar, farming implements and other articles. The usual terms will be given. Joe Beam officiates as auctioneer.
