Personal.

Hon. J. H. Lewis was in Lewistown on Tuesday, and in Canton Tuesday night.

J. W. Bowman and family left Canton Tuesday evening for southeastern Texas, where Mrs. Bowman’s relatives reside.

Mr. Joseph Cain and wife, of Kokomo, Ind., visited with Mr. And Mrs. H. S. Cain, in Canton, over Sunday. The two men are brothers. Mr. And Mrs. J. Cain have a son at Ipava, whom they have been visiting.

Miss Marie Plattenburg, daughter of the late P. D. Plattenburg, is visiting her grand-parents and other relatives in Canton.

Frank Reese, of Lewistown, was in Canton Tuesday evening.

Abe Tanner took in the St. Louis fair this week. W. O. Dean and wife and wife’s sister Mary, Mr. And Mrs. W. L. Taylor, Messrs. N. Ellis, Ed. Heald, Tom McWain, Will Beam and Frank Powell are also in St. Louis this week.

Mrs. W. A. Webb, who recently went to Rome, N. Y., to be treated for a cancer on the nose, has returned home, having been successfully treated.

Mr. Stephen Snyder and his wife arrived here from Salem, Mass., and are now at Mr. S’s father’s, Mr. T. W. Snyder. Steve was married about three months since, in Salem. He is on his way to Texas, where he has been offered a good situation by a railroad company.

Mr. Frank Farwell, of Fredonia, Kansas, was in Canton one day last week.

C. N. Henkle, of Canton, is in Chicago this week, attending the Masonic Grand Lodge. Judge Cummings also went up, but was telegraphed to return home on account of the dangerous illness of a grand-child, child of Darrah Waggoner, at Astoria, from scarlet fever.

Mr. Michael Kerr and wife have moved to Canton from Peoria, and gone to housekeeping on South Main street. Mr. Kerr was a few years since employed in Pitt’s tailoring establishment in this city. He is now at work for himself, in rooms over Ruble’s shoe store.

Mrs. Dewey (widow of the late Joel W. Dewey) and family moved to Farmington on Tuesday, where her son Fred is engaged in business.

Mrs. Senator Kellogg and Mrs. C. W. Wills, of Louisiana, returned to Canton a few days ago from Waukesha, Wis. (transcribed by Bonnie Dagen)
