I am seeking information as to what happened to Andrew McMullen/McMullin. He was born in Highland County, Ohio in about 1840. His parents were William McMullen sr. and Margaret Furrey/Furry. William was born in Ireland on 20 May 1789 and he died on 25 November 1852 in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, Illinois. He is buried in the Randall Cemetery in Bernadotte Township. Margaret was born in Pennsylvania between the years 1794-1802. She was living in McDonough County, Illinois in 1880. She probably died between 1880-1887. Other children of William and Margaret were as follows: James H., Catharine, Elizabeth B., Joseph F., Jane G., Margaret, John S. and William Campbell McMullen. William and Margaret were married on the 15th of September 1821 in Highland County, Ohio. The family moved from Highland County, Ohio to Fulton County, Illinois in the years 1840-1842.
Andrew McMullen enlisted on the 14th of August 1862 at Bernadotte, Fulton County, Illinois and was assigned to Company I in the 103rd Illinois Infantry as a Private. He was listed as a "Deserter" at Camp Reed, Jackson, Tennessee on the 15th of February in 1863. There is no other information on Andrew McMullen after his desertion in the Union Army. Did he change his name to Andrew Bryant? I am trying to either prove or disprove that Andrew McMullen was my Great-Great Grandfather Andrew Bryant. Andrew Bryant married Caroline Newberry on the 11th of August 1864. Their marriage license was issued in Mason County, Illinois. It has been told through the years that Andrew Bryant died in a fire in about the years 1867-1868. (posted May 7, 2006)

Any information will be appreciated on Andrew McMullen.
