Leader was WWI Navy veteran. His rank was second BT-1 US Navy based out of Hoboken NJ, In Atlantic Fleet. 
He was on the USS llinois as part of the Black-Gang stoking the coal engines. He was in the Hosp. with chicken pox 
when she was torpedoed and went down with all hands on board. He then was assigned to the USS Leviathan, as a stoker, 
which was a German Cruise Liner captured in New York Harbor,  when war broke out. She went down in Scotland in 1950's 
and is still there today. His name is the book about the Leviathan and in the Pioneers of the Prairies.

Notes for ELDON LEE HOWARD:
He was a painter like his dad and a very good one. He lay ill for many months and welcomed any help he was 
offered by his family and friends.  Don would take him to the doc. when ever needed and looked in on him everyday 
to see if there was anything he could do for him. When his children found out how ill he was they came to care for him. 
Randy came and set up hospas, and his daughters Danita and Cindy came and took him back to AR. from MO. were he
received the love and Med. care he so desperately needed. He requested that he be cremated and his ashes be sprinkled 
in the lake were he and his son Gary (Tony) would fish when ever they could get away form work. In his last days some 
of his family and friends came to visit him and make his last days happy. Present at one of these get together were, Jim 
Howard, Don Howard, his brothers, Jan Howard sister in-law, Ollie and Darla Howard Bowen, neice and husband,  Friend 
Larry, ______ and his wife Barb. it was a nice get together and Eldon enjoyed is very much.  He lived in many places one 
of the last was California were he lived with his lady friend Lisa till she past away and he came to Monroe City were he 
lived near his brother Don.
