Elijah Morton (b. 1796 in NJ, d. 28 Jan 1881), was a veteran of the War of 1812 and a resident of Fulton County. He died in Fairview at the age of 84 years, 9 months, 14 days and was buried in the Fairview cemetery Elijah was married to Mary Alexander (1797-1880) and had seven children. His sister, Theodesia Morton (1802-1865) also lived in Fulton County and was married to John Manning.
Elijah Morton served as a private in Captain Garret D. Wall's Company of Light Infantry, Colonel John Dodd's Regiment, New Jersey Detailed Militia. The unit was stationed at Sandy Hook, New Jersey and served until relieved on 10 December 1814. He received land warrants for his service in the War of 1812 and, I believe, a pension starting in the 1870s.
