Almira (Thomas) Stevens, 1823-1898 Mrs. A. Stevens died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.H. Rose at Avon. Born Almira Thomas, she was the daughter of Isaac and Lydia Thomas of Florence, Oneida County. She married at 17 to Almon Stevens.

 

 

 

 

 

Almon Stevens - Lived in Annsville, Oneida Co., NY, before moving to Half Day, Lake Co. IL, in 1843. In 1863 moved to Avon, Fulton Co., IL where he became active in community life. He served as police magistrate and acquired title "Esquire". He was vice president and president of Avon Milling and Manufacturing Co., belonged to the Congregational Church. His mother, Dolly Rose, was one of the children of Phineas Rose by his first wife, Sarah Gillette, and was thus a half sister of Roswell Rose, father of W.H. Rose who married Almon Stevens' oldest daughter, Harriet. Almon Stevens (1819-1895) died in Avon, IL. He was born at Verona, Oneida County, New York and had New England ancestry. His father build a section of the Erie Canal. In 1840 he married Almira Thomas before he came west to Half-Day near Chicago.

Margaret Bernice (Burrage) Trumpy (1894-1965), Margaret Virginia Trumpy (1919-2003), Robert Fenton Trumpy (1896-1968). Robert is the brother of Carter Trumpy. Carter and Robert were the only children of Charles Trumpy (1868-1929) and Buena Vista Trumpy (1868-1944). Bernice was the daughter of William Edward C. Burrage and Lavinia (Harkless) Burrage.
