ANDREW CAROTHERS, Jr., elder son of the Andrew Sr. by his first wife, was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania. After his father's removal to Illinois, he occupied the home farm, having been married the preceding year (1840) to Lydia Fickes, daughter of Jacob and Lydia Fickes, of his native county. In 1851 he came to Olena, and settled on the farm held by him at his death.
