ABSTRACT: OQUAWKA,Ill. Mrs. FLORA M. ESSEX , 94, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, [1974] at the La Moine Christian nursing home in Roseville . Born April 26, 1880 , in Rooks county, Kan. , her parents were WILLIAM G. and LAURA BELL KIDD PERSHIN . She married CLYDE ESSEX in 1897. Mrs.ESSEX spent most of her life in this area, was active in the Oquawka United Methodist church and Rebecca and Tri-State lodges, and was the office manager for the Oquawka light and water departments for many years. Survivors include her children HAROLD ESSEX and Mrs. MARGARET FRYREAR , Oquawka, and EDITH M. SANDY , Geneva ; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oquawka United Methodist church, Revs. Claire Noblitt and James Oliver; burial in Oquawka cemetery. Turnbull funeral home, Monmouth.
