Jonathon Biven’s brief mention of whose passing was made in these columns last week was born in Indiana on the 9 day of August, 1845. From there he went with his parents, when a small lad, to the state of Missouri , where he resided until he became of age, when he came to Warren Co. Illinois.

In February 1872, he was united in marriage at Monmouth to Miss Margaret Kelly. To this union five sons were born, namely; William of Chicago; Charles of Lomax; John H. of Rock Island; Fred A. of La Harpe; Frank of Nevada Iowa, all of whom were with him when the end came.

The first 5 years of Mr. & Mrs. Bivens married life were spent on a farm near Kirkwood, after which they moved to a farm 4 miles southeast of Raritan, where the wife died on February 8, 1915. Mr. Biven’s remained on the place until the spring of 1920, when he moved to La Harpe with his son Fred, at whose home he died on Monday, July 10, 1922 , aged 76 years, 11 months and 1 day. He was an honorable, upright and industrious citizen.

The funeral services and internment were at St. Patrick’s Catholic Chapel, 3 miles northeast of Raritan, last Thursday forenoon and were attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends
