ROBERT MARSHALL, eldest son of Alexander, was born March 1, 1817. He came to Illinois with his parents, and in 1841 bought the " eighty" on which his residence stands.

He first married Susan, daughter of John Andrew, in 1842. Five .years after her death he was again married (in 1852) to Rebecca Graham.
