John Ferry Family

Hello,

I have some information for your website, if you would like to put it on and maybe help me also

find my husband's family.

 

We live in Benold , IL . and my husband's great grandfather and family lived in Henry County, Colona, Twp, Minerville for about 10-15 years until moving on to Missouri.

 

John W. Ferry born 1826 England and wife Elizabeth Jane Willingham Ferry born 1830 England came to U. S. via Pennsylvania to Illinois to Henry County around 1860. 

He was a coal miner, and a father of 14 children, of which we have found 10 of the children.  

The children's names are: Hanna Frances, Elizabeth Ann, Thomas, Sarah Ann, Dora/Dorothy, John W., Elizabeth Jane, and Jennie, John William, Alfred.

 One child John died in Henry County , Born 1859 and died Nov. 1860 buried in Glenwood Cemetery

 

The second John, named also after the deceased child.   Back then, it was customary to rename the next son after the deceased son.  

This second John Ferry became my husband's grandfather. 

 

The children's names are and have information on them.

We have info on Hanna Frances married William Lentell and they married in Colona Twp.  Sarah Ann married Joseph Henry Young and they lived in E. Moline , Rock Island County , IL., Dora married William Cann of Geneseo and they lived there until their deaths.  Second John W. married Sally Brown and lived in Missouri .   Alfred moved to Centralia , Il and married and died there.

The other children we could not trace.  If anyone know anything about the other children, we would appreciate help.

  Would like to find Thomas, Elizabeth Jane, and Jennie.

  By 1870 the family was living in Minerville.    And by 1887 the family removed to Missouri .
