AUGUST HOLKE

  August Holke, a respected resident, of Geneseo since the early sixties, passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. William A. Wanner, on North Aldrich Street, Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 1919.  Death was the result of a stroke of apoplexy and was sudden and unexpected though Mr. Holke had been poorly for several years.

Mr. Holke was born in West Prussia May 9, 1854, and came to this country with his parents, the late Mrs. and Mrs. David Holke, when he was but ten years old.  The family locating on a farm near Geneseo and this vicinity has always been his home.  Mr. Holke never married and lived with his parents until their passing, the mother's death occurring in this city the year 1903.  Since that time Mr. Holke has had a home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wanner.  He was a honorable and upright citizen and had many friendfs.  Of his immediate family there survives but the one sister, Mrs. Wanner.  There also mourn two nieces and a nephew.

The funeral service is being conducted this Thulrsday afternoon at the W. A. Wanner home by Rev. E. K. Hershey.  The interment will be in the family lot in the Baxter cemetery, east of Geneseo.
