
Cemetery established in 1846. There is also a colonist memorial erected in Red Oak
that marks the place where 50 colonists were buried in 1846-47. There is also a
memorial in LaGrange where 70 Bishop Hill Colonists had died in 1849. They had
gone there to escape cholera in the Bishop Hill Colony.
