DEATH CLAIMS EMMA W. KARAU
Mrs, Emma Wilhelmina Karau, 89, of 517 West North street , Geneseo, died Sunday evening, march 6, in the Hammond-Henry hospital. She had been ill six weeks.
Born September 23, 1870 , in Osco, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Maeltzer. She attended Osco schools and had lived the last 50 years in the Geneseo area.
In 1891 she was married to Carl M. Ohlert in Geneseo. He preceded her in death. She was married to John george Karau, December 31, 1915 , in Rock Island . He died April 2, 1941 .
Mrs. Karau was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church, the Ladies Aid of the church and Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Zimmerman of Geneseo; two sons, Walter of Tucson, Arizona and Elmer of Harvey,Illinois and three brothers, Henry, Gus, and Leander Maeltzer, all of Geneseo.A son and two siters preceded her in death.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, March 9, in Myers funeral home with the Rev. Calvin Franz, paster of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, officiating.
Clyde Walter was solist with Mrs. Peter Kuchirka at the organ. Pallbearers were Robert and Raymond Mille, Vernon and Elmer Maeltzer, Ernest Meier and Walter Hintz. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.
