Esther M. B. Efken, 80, of Geneseo died Sunday April 7, 1991 at Hillcrest Nursing Home Geneseo. Funeral services for Mrs Efken were held Wednesday, April 10 at St. John's Lutheran church, Edford Twp. where she was a member. The Rev. Robert Woods officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Milton Kohnert, Lyle Kohnert, Dennis Rahn, Jim Sheehy, Scott Rahn, and Kevin Rahn. Memorials may be made to the church.

Mrs. Efken was born April 28, 1910 in Calamus Iowa , the daughter of Fred and Mary (Reike) Kohnert. She married Elmer Rahn January 21, 1930 in Geneseo. He died October 17, 1978 . She married Harvey Efken March 23, 1980 in Geneseo. He died in 1989. She had farmed with her husband Elmer for many years in Osco township. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at the church and the Henry County Farm Bureau. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Survivors include sons, James Rahn of Atkinson, Elmer Rahn Jr. of Osco, and Edwin Rahn of Geneseo; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother William Kohnert of Lowden Iowa .
