Coming to the country with his family, he landed at New Orleans and took steamboat up the Mississippi to St Louis where he was laod up as a cholera patient for some time. After getting well, he proceeded with his family to Galesburg and removed in turn to Knoxville, to Moline and to Bishop Hill, settling there in the winter of 1851/52 and remaining until after the colony had been resolved. As already told, The organization of a military company in 1860 of a military company which became Company D, of the 57 th Il.Vol. Infantry was the work of Eric Forrse, who served as captain from it’s inception and was given the same rank in the army. He enlisted in the summer of 1861 and mustered into service Sept. 14 th the same year. When Major Norman B.
