HENRY GRADERT DIES SUDDENLY

Heny J. Gradert, 80, of Annwan died suddenly Sunday afternoon January 17, while visiting his wife in the Kewanee Public Hospital.  Mrs. Gradert had been taken to the hospital after becoming ill in church in Annawan Sunday Morning.

Born November 16, 1879 near Geneseo, Mr. Gradert was the son of the late  Mr. and Mrs. William Gradert. On February 11, 1903 he married Hulda Leonhart. They moved to Annawan after their marriage and farmed here until 1946 when Mr. Gradert retired and the couple moved to the village.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Bernard Logsdon of East Moline , Mrs Darrell Rakestraw of Mineral and Mrs. Raymond DeSplinter of Annawan; two sons, Lester of Sheffield and Marion of Mineral; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Dora Hutchinson of Geneseo and one brother William of Annawan. A daughter , a son , one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral was held Wednesday afternoon January 20, in the Annawan Community church with the Rev. Frank Friesland officiating. Pallbearers , all grandsons, were Alvin, Marvin, Wayne, Dean, Larry and Delmar Gradert and DeWayne Rakestraw. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery .
