HISTORY

The village of Ulah , located just south of a branch of the Edwards River in southeastern Cambridge Township, was platted June 5, 1873 from land owned by C. A. Morris, who laid out the town, and named the streets Adams, North, and Becker, according to an early map of the area.   Mr. Morris had settled in Cambridge Township in 1865, after migrating to Illinois from New York state.   He taught school during the winter months for 25 years and was also road commissioner (Galvaland Magazine, March1977).
