MRS. AUGUST GEHN SUCCUMBS MAY 8----FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD FRIDAY AT SWEENY’S FUNERAL CHAPEL
Mrs. August Gehn died Tuesday, May 8, in Geneseo hospital due to a heart attack. She had been in failing health six years.
Formerly Ida Bertha Roesner, she was born August 26, 1881 , in Edford township, daughter of Julius and Theresa Roesner. She had resided in Geneseo thirteen years. She first was married to Henry Bartz, April 16, 1902 and he preceded her in death. She was married in Rock Island in April 1914 to Mr. Gehn. Mrs. Gehn was a member of St John’s church in Edford. Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death.
Surviving are the widower, a son, Pfc. Everett Bartz, now home on furlough, two daughters, Mrs. Joe Stafford of Geneseo and Miss Florence Gehn at home, three grandsons. Three sisters, Mrs. Henry Redman and Mrs. Herbert Rahn of Geneseo and Mrs. William Redman of Woodhull, and two brothers, Ed Roesner of Geneseo and Arthur in California. Funeral services were held May 10 at Sweeny’s chapel and at 2 o’clock in Concordia Lutheran church. The Rev. Carl Hilgendorf of St John’s church officiated and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery .
