Mrs. Jemima Dunbar, widow of Hiram Dunbar, passed peacefully away, Monday morning, December 1, 1902 at 9 o'clock at the home of her son, Perry C. Dunbar, in this village.  Grandma Dunbar, as all familiarly called this kind-hearted old lady had reached the extreme age of 96 and it was the reaping of the ripened grain by the angel of death.  The deceased was born in Knox County , PA , April 6, 1806.  Here she was educated, grew to womanhood and was married to Hiram Dunbar. In 1837 they came to Illinois , locating in Putnam county.  In 1844 they moved to Henry County , settling on the farm known as the Jake Cosner place on the State Road .  In 1847, they moved to Hennepin remaining there until 1859 when they returned to Henry County , living on their farm at Shabbona Grove.  In 1864, they moved to the village of Atkinson where for five years, Mr. Dunbar was engaged in the general merchandise business.  In 1884, they went to Piper Kansas and made their home with their son Perry.  While there, Mr. Dunbar died at the advanced age of 80 years.  After his death, the family returned to Atkinson.  To Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Dunbar, 10 children were born, five of whom are living, two daughters and three sons.  Sara Ann Riley of Atkinson, Elizabeth McClain of Clarksville Iowa, John of Guide Rock NE, Owen L of Leavenworth KS and Perry C. of this village.  The funeral service was held at the home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. G. C. Shaffer, of Geneseo and the remains were laid at rest in Oakwood cemetery
