JOHN W. HOOVER

John W. Hoover, 81 years old died Saturday night at 7:00 o'clock in his home on South Spring Street.

Born in Middletown Ohio , March 22, 1855 , a son of James and Ann Lindsey Hoover. Mr. Hoover married Miss Virginia Hawley at Garrison in Benton County Iowa Nov. 9, 1874 .  Mr. Hoover resided in Geneseo more than forty years. He was a dairy farmer for a number of years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge. Survivors besides the widow include three daughters, Miss Rena Hoover at home, Miss Amy Belle Hoover of Seatle Washington and Miss Florence Ann Hoover of Gary Ind. and two sons, Loren H. Hoover of Peoria and J.O. Hoover of Hartford Conn. A niece, Mrs. Rena Hawley Smith of Moline , made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Hoover since early childhood

He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Robert Ristau and Mrs. Frank Reighard, and a brother McCleland Tibbs, all of Geneseo. A brother, Thomas Hoover, preceded him in death. There are two granddaughters, Virginia Hoover of Peoria and Mildred Hoovoer of Chicago . The funeral was held this afternoon at 2:20 o"clock in the Myers Chapel, The Rev Robert E. Romig, pastor of the Moline Unitarian church officiating. Pallbearers were members of the Modern Woodmen lodge and included Roy Klavine, Ed Larson, Edward Miller, James Warsock, William Ohme and Perry Sand. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery .
