JOHN KARAU, 73 YEARS,CALLED
Rev. R. K. Wobbe of St. Peter's Church to Conduct Rites on Saturday
John G. Karau, a lifelong resident of this community, died at his home on West North street at 5:15 Wednesday evening, April 2, at the age of 73, He had been in poor health the past seven years and was taken seriously ill about ten days ago.
John George Karau was born in Geneseo Feb. 7, 1868 . He was reared here and received his education in the parochial school. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The past several years he has been a member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church of Edford .
He was married January 31, 1914 , to Mrs. Emma Ohlert in Rock Island . Mr. Karau was a member of Woodman and Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a retired tiler.
Surviving are his wife; two step-sons, Rev. Elmer Ohlert, of Harvey , Illinois ; Waltler Olhert, of Hialeah , Florida ; one step-daughter, Mrs. Clara Zimmerman, of Geneseo and many other relatives. A step-son, Carl Ohlert, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be heald Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence with Rev. R.K. Wobbe, pastor of St. Peter's church officiating. Burial Will be in Oakwood cemetery.
