Jonas M. Anderson
Jonas M. Anderson was born April 20, 1857, in Skepperstad parish, Småland. He came to this country in 1872 and settled on a farm in La Porte Co., Ind. In 1890 he went to Cambridge, Ill., where he engaged in business with the firm of H. M. Wier, at which place he still remains.
Mr. Anderson has received public recognition in Cambridge, having been chosen alderman, in which capacity he has served for many years. He is a director of the First National Bank of Cambridge and also a director of the Electric Light and Power Co. of the same place. He is likewise secretary of the Citizens’ Mutual Telephone Co. For thirteen years the subject of this sketch has belonged to the Illinois National Guard, in which he has served as a lieutenant for three years in Co. D., 6 th Regiment.
Mr. Jonas M. Anderson, son of Johannes Anderson, a farmer in Sweden, was married at Andover April 5, 1883, to Miss Mathilda Sophia Lyon, the daughter of Andrew Lyon, a farmer of Andover. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have three children, Ivar T., Henry S. and Eva Elizabeth.
