The farmers are very busy this week putting in oats.
Mabel Engstrom is visiting this week with her aunt, Mrs. Ed Myers, near Galva
Mrs. John Martin gave a nice Easter dinner for a few friends and relatives.
Christine Mattson who has been visiting with her sister, Mrs. Engstrom, for some time, has returned to Galva
Allie Watson is home from Kewanee, spending her weeks vacation. She was accompanied by her grandfather, who enjoys a trip out to the farm from time to time.

Adam Deem returned from Lincoln, Neb. This week
C.V. Dickinson and wife have returned to this place after an absence of several months
Mr. J. Babbitt of Gretna, Neb. Visited his wife’s family Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Albro, last week.
P.A. Burdeck, the great temperance orator will commence work here April 4 th and remain until April 9 th.
Mrs. Mary Delancey’s house took fire on Monday of last week. Quite a large section of the roof was burned. But the fire was put out before much damage was done. It is supposed that the house took fire from a passing train on the second track.
Edwin Hokum was quite severely hurt at the Hayes Factory last week by being caught in some of the machinery. The timely arrival of help probably saved his life. Dr. S. Thompson was called and found the young man suffering from a broken ankle.
The citizens held their caucus last Saturday evening and nominated E.W. Houghtonfor president, C.A. Shurtluff,Thos. Hudson and D.W.Henderson for trustees and H.B. Nott for clerk. H.C. Morton was placed in nomination for police magistrate.

Mrs. Geo. Maynard made a business trip to Bradford recently
Mr. Hazelot has rented land of Mr. Austin for the coming season
Laura Mantooth is helping Mrs. Pask of Oseola, in household duties.
Sam Mantooth and wife were visiting his brother James the first of the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Austin were in Wyoming the first of the week, purchasing furniture
Geo. Maynard who has been confined to the home for seven weeks is now able to be out.
Mr. Dodd and son, of Modena were business claaers in the Grove one day last week.
Miles Austin has moved back to his farm and is repairing his house. Geo. Gerard is doing the carpenter work
Miss Franc Gerard of Houston Minn. Who came to attend the wedding of her cousin Ellen Gerard will spend several weeks with friends in the Grove.
On March 23 rd at the residence of C.L. Gerard, occurred the marriage of Mr. Anthony Loudenburgh and Miss Ellen Gerard both of the Grove. Rev. A.C. Clark performing the ceremony. Mr Loudenburgh has rented the farm formerly known as the Russel Brigg’s place.
