Louisa Christina Carlson Hammerstrom

Died: Jan 20,1931

Mrs. Louise Hammerstrom aged 69 years, 4 months, and 14 days, who had been ill for the past four weeks, was found dead in her bed at her home here, where she resided alone, by neighbors on Tuesday, afternoon. Heart failure is supposed to have been the final cause of her death.

Mrs. Hammerstrom had been slightly ill for the past month, and as she resided alone, Mrs. Frank Soderberg, a neighbor, had been making daily calls to aid and care for the aged lady. On Tuesday, Mrs. Soderberg did not go to the Hammerstrom home until afternoon, when she found the doors locked, and suspecting Mrs. Hammerstrom to be worse, went to the Elmer Cask home for assistance. Entrance was gained to the house through a window, after which the door was unlocked, and on entrance to the bedroom found Mrs. Hammerstrom cold in death, she having doubtless died during Monday night.

Mrs. Hammerstrom, nee Louise Johnson, was born Sept. 6, 1861, at Ostergotland, Sweden, where she resided until age of 22 years, when she came to this country with her two sisters, they locating at Peoria, where whe resided until her marriage to Carl Hammerstrom in April 17, 1890, when they came to Orion and where she had since lived in the home in which she died. Mr. Hammerstrom died some 10 years ago.

The surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs Albertina Anderson and Mrs. Hilda Johnson, of Peoria , one step-son, Henry Hammerstrom, of Lennox , SD., six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Orion Baptist church at which she was a devoted member, at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with the pastor, Rev. H. L. Alley, officiating, and interment will be made in Western cemetery
