Mable Viola Weaver (McMillin) family

 

I am trying to locate the biological parents of my great grandmother, Mable Viola Weaver. The following information is what I know about her.

1. MABLE VIOLA WEAVER, was born July 14, 1858 in Neponset, Bureau, Illinois, USA, and died February 24, 1916 in Hanna Twp, Henry, Illinois, USA. She married DAVID D. C. MCMILLIN August 11, 1875 in Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois, USA, son of JOHN MCMILLIN and PRISCILLA VAN HORN. He was born April 09, 1844 in Pennsylvania, USA, and died September 10, 1905 in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California, USA.

As noted in her obituary she was born a Weaver. However both of her Adopted parents Lewis Weaver and Hannah Bartlett (Weaver) clearly state that she was their adopted daughter. I have enclosed the obiturary's for Mable and her adoptive parents.

2. Copy of obituary for Mable Viola McMillin, taken from the "The Geneseo Republic" dated Mar 3, 1916. Reads as follows;

Mrs. David C. McMillin - Mable Viola McMillin, nee Weaver, was born at Neponset, Illinois, July 14, 1858, and departed this life on the 24th day of February, 1916, aged 57 years, 7 months and 10 days. Her death was due to cancer from which she had been a sufferer for many years.

She was united in marriage to David C. McMillin on the 11th day of August, 1875. To this union were born four Children, three of whom with her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss; Charles, at home, and George, and Harry, of East Moline. One grand child also survives her besides numerous sorrowing friends.

Funeral services were held at the Cleveland M. E. church, February 26th, with interment at the Dayton cemetery. Rev. Henry Brink, of Colona, officiating.

3. Copy of Obituary, from the " Geneseo Republic", Geneseo, Illinois, Friday, January 28, 1916.

PASSING OF LEWIS WEAVER - Was Veteran Member of Capt. McArthur's Company in Ninth Illinois Cavalry.

Last Saturday, at Cleveland, Il., death came to Lewis Weaver, a long time resident of Henry county, and a veteran of the civil war. Mr. Weaver was an honorable and up-right man, and had the esteem of a wide circle of friends.

Lewis Weaver was born at Shawneetown, Hamilton county, this state, on the 16th day of May, 1831, and died on the 22nd day of January, 1916, at his home at Cleveland, Il., at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Hannah Bartlett in the year 1850. Two children were born to them, both of which died in infancy. His wife died on the 14th day of May, 1902.

Deceased came to Cleveland with his parents when he was a small boy. His three brothers, Sammuel, John, and William, and two sisters, Mrs. Jane Clark and Mrs. Nancy Fredericks, preceded him in death. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Dorinda Hushman of Springfield, Mo., and Mrs. Geo Buffon; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Mabel McMillin, of Cleveland, and three grandchildren, Charles McMillen, of Cleveland, and George and Harry McMillen, of East Moline; four nephews and six nieces.

Mr. Weaver carried the mail between Cleveland and Colona from 1887 until 1911.

Deceased enlisted as a private in Captain F.H. McArthur's Company. Co. C., of the 9th Illinois Cavalary, on September 10, 1861, and served until honorably discharged on November 28, 1862, at Keokuk, Iowa, by reason of disability.

Funeral services were conducted at the Cleveland M. E. church Monday, Jan. 24, at 2 o'clock p.m., with burial in the Dayton cemetery, Rev Henry Brink, of Colona, officiating.

4. Copy of obituary taken from the "The Geneseo Republic" dated May 23, 1902. Reads as follows;

Hanna Bartlett, wife of Louis Weaver, was born in Pennsylvania May 26, 1832 and died at her residence in Cleveland, ILL., May 14, 1902, aged 69 years, 11months, 14 days. About the year 1848 she emigrated with her parents to Hanna township. On October 5, 1852, she was united in marriage with Lewis Weaver. To them were born two childred who died in infancy . She leaves a husband, an adopted daughter. Mrs. Mabel McMillin, and three grand children. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. S. Andrewartha Friday form the Cleveland M.E. church, the interment at the Dayton cemetery. The grief stricken husband and relatives have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow. Mrs. Weaver was a good woman and her passing away is mourned by many friends.
