Orion

A post office was established in 1850 with Mrs. Elizabeth Blackfan as postmistress, to the town of Deanington, in northwest Henry County, was platted a town in December 26, 1853 by Charles W. Dean. The name was changed to Orion on November 11, 1865 , as requested by a petition of citizens, to match the name of the post office, which was named by Charles T. Trego in 1848. The Bank of Orion was organized January 1, 1889 and survived the Great Depression, and was one of the first in Henry County permitted to reopen after the 1933 banking halt.
