FINAL RITES FOR OSCAR E. DREHMAN ARE HELD JUNE 30
CITY MARCHAL ILL SINCE MAY 9, DIES JUNE 28 IN HOSPITAL
Oscar E. Drehman, 79, Geneseo City Marshal many years, died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday June 28, 1947, in the Geneseo hospital. Mr. Drehman suffered a stroke on his 79th birthday, May 9th and has been ill since that time.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Concordia Lutheran church with Rev. H. J. Elling, pastor officiating. Burial was in Oakwoods Cemetery . Pallbearers were S.R. Borkgren, Henry Wiesjahn, Chester Bell, Bernard Benson, and B. Wildermuth. Miss Shirley Nitz sang and Henry Eiling was at the Organ. Myers funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mr Drehman was born May 9, 1868 in Germany and came to the United States when he was 16 years old. Mr. Drehman was married to Nettie Gradert and she died Sept 20, 1914 . He married a second time to Mrs. Dora Schriefer on Feb 16, 1916 in Walnut, Ia. She died Nov. 6, 1944 . Mr. Drehman farmed in this vicinity until 1924 when he moved to town. He was first appointed city marshal in April 1931 and served a four year period. In April 1941 he was reappointed to that office and continured to serve until the time of his illness in May.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Bengston of Kewanee; three sons, Earl of Cambridge, Floyd and Wilbur both of Geneseo; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucy Taube of Geneseo and nine grandchildren.
